Birthday party venues in Houston for small groups
Thirty people is an awkward number in Houston. Too many for a restaurant back room, not enough to justify a ballroom, and almost every venue in the city is built and priced for two hundred.

Why the restaurant back room disappoints
It is the default answer for thirty guests and it has three problems that only show up on the night.
You cannot decorate it. No balloon installation, no backdrop, no photo corner — and for a milestone birthday the photographs are half the point.
You cannot control the music. Someone else’s playlist, at someone else’s volume, and no DJ.
You are on their clock. The table is yours until the next booking. Nobody says it out loud; you just start feeling it around the second hour.
What a private room actually costs
People assume a private venue is the expensive option. For thirty to eighty guests it frequently is not, because the restaurant is charging you per head with a minimum spend attached.
The Dome at The Hendrix is $1,200 daytime, $1,500 evening and $2,000 for a full day — the same price on any day of the week, which makes a Saturday birthday no more expensive than a Tuesday one. Add a $200 cleaning fee, a refundable $350 deposit, and a $300 security fee where alcohol is served or the event runs into the evening.
At 40 guests that is roughly $37 a head for the room, before food — and the food is entirely yours to choose.

What comes with the room
- Banquet tables and Chiavari chairs, set and cleared
- Linens
- The Dome’s large marble bar
- 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen for your caterer
- On-site concierge for the whole booking
- Free parking at the door
- One event at a time
No approved supplier list, no markup on the food bill, and BYOB is permitted with a TABC-certified bartender. Bring the bakery your family always uses.
When to size up instead
Past eighty guests the Dome stops feeling generous and starts feeling full. That is the point to move downstairs to the Mansion, which seats 300 from $2,500 and takes a balloon installation of any size. If your list is genuinely hovering around eighty, walk both rooms before you decide — it takes about half an hour and it settles the question immediately.
