An Owambe lives or dies on the food. The jollof has to be the right jollof, the small chops have to keep coming, and the pounded yam has to come from the kitchen your family has used for years — not from a venue’s preferred-supplier list with a markup on top.
Bring whoever cooks for your family. There is no approved list here and we take no percentage of your food bill. A 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen comes with the room.
Frying happens outdoors, in the area behind the kitchen, with prior approval — so tell us at booking and we will set the space aside.

The entrance
Cloud effects and a cold sparkler come with the Premium package, and the 3D video wall runs behind the couple as they come in.
Spraying and the dance floor
Nearly ten thousand square feet on the ground floor, so the dance floor stays open even when three hundred people are on their feet.
It runs late
Evening slots run to 1am and full-day bookings from 10am to 1am. Set-up sits inside your booked hours, so take the full day if the decor is elaborate.

Nobody manages your night
Plenty of halls in Houston will take an Owambe booking and then spend the evening supervising it — an approved-caterer list that has never once cooked jollof, a volume limit that lands halfway through the live set, a quiet word about the spraying.
Your people, your kitchen
Your caterer cooks in a 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen with no approved list and no markup from us. Your DJ or your live band plays the room they were hired for. The money goes up and nobody from our side comes over to discuss it.

One celebration runs here at a time, so the building belongs to your family for the hours you book. If the night is going well, you keep it for $350 an hour rather than being asked to wind down.

Owambe questions
Is there a Nigerian party venue in Houston that allows outside catering?
Yes. The Hendrix in Stafford, Fort Bend County, places no restriction on which caterer you use and takes no percentage of your food bill. A 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen comes with the room, and an outdoor cooking area can be set aside on request.
Can our caterer fry on site for an Owambe?
Yes, outdoors. Cooking and frying are not permitted inside the kitchen, but both can be done in the area behind it with prior approval. Tell us at booking and we will set the space aside for your caterer.
How many guests can you hold for an Owambe?
The Mansion seats 300 and holds 350 standing across 9,930 sq ft on the ground floor, so the dance floor stays open even at full capacity. The Dome upstairs suits 80 or fewer for introductions and family dinners.
How late can the party run?
Evening slots run to 1am, and a full-day booking runs 10am to 1am. Set-up and break-down happen inside your booked hours, so take the full day if the decor is elaborate.
What does it cost?
The Mansion starts at $2,500 and The Dome at $1,200. Every rate by day and slot is published on the pricing page. The only other charges are a refundable $500 deposit, $300 for professional security, and optional 3D video mapping.
Can we have a grand entrance with effects?
Yes. Cloud effects and a cold sparkler are included with the Premium package, and the 3D video wall runs behind the entrance. Only one event runs in the building at a time, so the room is entirely yours.
