Somewhere to sit down together
After the service, people need a place to sit down, eat something, and tell stories about the person they came for. A church hall is often too small. A restaurant is rarely private. A home fills up before the first hour is out.
The Hendrix has two rooms, both private, both a short drive from most of the funeral homes and churches in the southwest Houston corridor. Only one event runs here at a time, so the floor you book is yours alone.
There is no second party humming through the wall, no clock being tapped, and no one asking your family to move along.

How the day usually runs
Most families arrive having already carried a week they did not plan for. This is the shape the day takes here, so that you can picture it before you decide.
Before anyone arrives
Tables and chairs are set to your layout before your first car pulls in. Your florist, your caterer and your musicians can be in the building ahead of the guests, and our concierge lets them in.
As guests come in
There is room at the entrance for a condolence table, a guest book and a framed photograph on an easel. Parking is free and directly outside, and the ground-floor room is step-free from the main door.
The meal
Seated or served from a buffet, whichever your caterer prefers. The prep kitchen is theirs for the day. Both floors have a bar if you want one, and it is entirely fine if you do not.
Afterwards
We clear the room. Nobody in your family should be stacking chairs at the end of a day like this, and here nobody has to.
A room away from the room
There is a private suite off the main floor where a few people can sit down out of view for ten minutes. Families use it for the widow or widower, for a child who needs quiet, for the moment before anyone is ready to be looked at.
It stays yours for the whole booking. Nobody will knock.
Water, seating and a mirror are there already. Tell us on the day if you would like anything else in it.

Every booking includes
- Banquet tables and chairs, set and cleared
- 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen

Guest count usually decides it. The Mansion and the Dome are never booked at the same time, so whichever you choose, the building belongs to your family for the day.

What else is added
So there are no surprises later: a cleaning fee of $350 for the Mansion or $200 for the Dome, and a $300 security fee. A refundable security deposit is held — $500 for the Mansion, $350 for the Dome — and returned after the event. Additional hours beyond your booked slot are $350 per hour in the Mansion and $200 per hour in the Dome.
Weekdays and short notice
Most families come to us with a week’s notice, and often less. That is the ordinary shape of this rather than an imposition, and both rooms are usually available on the weekdays when services are held.
Dates
Both rooms are most often available on weekdays. The Dome is priced the same on any day of the week.
If you call about a date this week, we will tell you plainly whether we can hold it.
Catering
You are welcome to bring your own caterer. There is no approved list and no catering markup, and a 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen is available to them.
Families often want a particular kitchen — the one that cooks the food the person actually liked. That is entirely fine here.
If you would rather not visit
We can walk you through either room over the phone and send photographs the same day.

What families tell us
A room that has held a lot of days like this.
Families tell us the same two things afterwards: that the room looked after itself, and that nobody had to manage anything on a day when they had no capacity to manage anything.
Questions families ask
How soon can we book a room for a repast?
Most families come to us with a week's notice, and often less. Both rooms are usually available on the weekdays when services are held. If you call about a date this week, we will tell you plainly whether we can hold it.
How many people can you seat for a repast?
The Dome upstairs suits a family-only gathering of 80 guests or fewer. The Mansion on the ground floor seats 300 and holds 350 standing. Only one event runs here at a time, so the floor you book belongs to your family for the day.
What does a celebration of life cost at The Hendrix?
The Dome starts at $1,200 and is the same price on any day of the week. The Mansion starts at $2,500. Added to that is a cleaning fee of $200 in the Dome or $350 in the Mansion, a $300 security fee, and a refundable security deposit of $350 or $500 that is returned after the event.
Can we bring our own caterer?
Yes. There is no approved caterer list and no markup on your food bill, and a 1,000 sq ft prep kitchen is available to them. Families often want a particular kitchen, the one that cooks the food the person actually liked. That is entirely fine here.
Is there somewhere private for the immediate family?
Yes. There is a private suite off the main floor that stays yours for the whole booking, with water, seating and a mirror already in it. Families use it for the widow or widower, for a child who needs quiet, or for the moment before anyone is ready to be looked at.
Can we hold the service itself at The Hendrix?
Yes. The Mansion takes rows of seating for a service and then a repast in the same room, so a family does not have to move everyone twice. Step-free access from the main entrance, with the prep kitchen and both suites on the same floor.
Can you show us the room without us visiting?
Yes. We can walk you through either room over the phone and send photographs the same day. Call (281) 801-5211 and we will describe the room, the layout and the cost while you are on the line.
